Richard Mitham, bass, was born in Swansea and awarded a scholarship to study with John Mitchinson at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester. He subsequently continued his vocal training with Roderick Earle at the Royal Opera House, London.
Richard has sung in the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Switzerland and Russia. He has performed with English Touring Opera, Glyndebourne Festival Opera, Glyndebourne Touring Opera, Welsh National Opera, Diva Opera and at many international music festivals including Les Azuriales Opera Festival (Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat), Festival de La Vézère (Brive-la-Gaillarde), Nuits de La Citadelle (Sisteron), Les Heures Musicales (Haut-Anjou), Les Nuits Musicales de Vendée (Vouvant) and the Festival de L’Orne(Normandy).
Operatic roles include, Collatinus, The Rape of Lucretia, Sarastro and Second Armed Man, Die Zauberflöte, Comte des Grieux, Manon (Massenet), Alidoro, La Cenerentola, Prince Gremin, Eugene Onegin, Imperial Commissioner, Madama Butterfly, Betto, Gianni Schicchi, Don Basilio, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, Il Commendatore, Don Giovanni, Dottore Grenvil, La Traviata and Il Re, Aida.
Concert performances have included Handel’s Messiah with the Rhondda Symphony Orchestra and Pontypridd Choral Society, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Requiem with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and Bristol Choral Society and Gala Concerts for Diva Opera in England, Jersey, Switzerland and a special gala performance of La Cenerentola at La Fenice Opera House, Venice.
